Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
-
Acupuncture supports the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance. Many people come in for relief from pain, stress, anxiety, fatigue, sleep issues, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, and allergies. Others simply want to maintain wellness or support emotional and physical balance. Every treatment plan is customized to your specific needs and goals.

Your first visit includes a detailed consultation and an initial treatment. Dr. Wilson will take time to listen to your health story, discuss your main concerns, and review your health history. Based on what he learns, he’ll outline a personalized plan that may include acupuncture, Biofield Testing, or herbal support.

It’s best to eat a light meal or snack within a few hours of your session and avoid caffeine or alcohol beforehand. Bring a list of your current medications or supplements, wear comfortable clothing, and arrive a few minutes early to relax before your treatment begins.
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows access to your arms, legs, and back. If needed, you’ll be provided with draping to ensure comfort during your session.

We are out-of-network with all insurance.
If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network acupuncture coverage, we may be able to submit a claim for your treatment for the second and subsequent visits as an out-of-network provider. There are some insurance plans that we are not able to work with at all, so feel free to ask if we work with your insurance carrier.
We will be happy to verify whether your PPO plan has out-of-network acupuncture coverage. We can get a copy of your insurance card at your initial appointment.

Appointments can be scheduled online through the contact page or by calling the office. Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive intake forms by email to complete before your first visit.
During Treatment
-
Most patients are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles are extremely fine, about the width of a human hair, and are inserted with care. You may notice a light sensation such as tingling, warmth, or heaviness, which fades quickly and signals that your body is responding to treatment.
-
New patient visits typically last about 90 minutes, allowing time for your initial consultation, Morphogenic Field Technique testing, and acupuncture treatment.
Follow-up visits are generally scheduled for 60 minutes.
-
Many patients describe feeling calm, relaxed, and centered after a session. Some experience immediate relief, while others notice gradual improvement over several days. It’s also common to feel pleasantly tired or reflective. In some cases, symptoms may briefly shift before improving—a normal part of the healing process.
-
Each patient’s treatment plan is designed around their individual health needs and goals. While many patients notice improvement after just one or two treatments, acupuncture and Chinese medicine are most effective when received consistently over time.
An initial treatment plan may include visits once or twice a week, gradually tapering to once every two weeks, once a month, or once every six weeks before the plan is completed. Many patients also return for periodic “tune-up” sessions to maintain their progress in balance, energy flow, and overall wellness.
Your personalized treatment plan, including the number of sessions, will be as unique as you are.

-
Yes. When appropriate, Dr. Wilson may recommend traditional Chinese herbal formulas or high-quality nutraceuticals to support your body between visits. These are carefully selected based on your individual needs and sourced from reputable suppliers for purity and safety.
-
Biofield Testing is a form of energetic assessment that helps identify nutritional or energetic imbalances in the body. Using subtle muscle testing, Dr. Wilson can determine which foods, nutrients, or environmental factors may be supporting or interfering with your health. Biofield Testing is often used alongside acupuncture and herbal medicine for a more complete understanding of your body’s needs.
